Thieves Tea to Boost Immunity

Updated: Apr 3, 2020

'Tis the season for the holiday spirit, filled with joy and compassion...it's also the season for illness, filled with flu symptoms, head colds, and yucky noses. As temperatures drop outside, we turn up the dry heat of our furnaces and stay inside with any germs that might have come home with us. There are lots of ways we can be affected by illness this season, but we can help our bodies fight by giving our immune system a natural boost.

A few years ago I started using Young Living Essential Oils and discovered Thieves oil, a spicy blend that can benefit your body and spirit. Why is it called "Thieves?" In 15th century France, thieves would rob from the dead and dying. Legend says they protected themselves by creating a special aromatic combination composed of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals. Inspired by these tales, Young Living created Thieves essential oil blend by combining Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Lemon oil, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils. This blend is one of their most popular products. I think of it as a wellness bomb that helps promote health and reduce inflammation in the body.

This powerful blend can be found in my diffuser AND in my teacup. That's right, my teacup. I create wonderful, immunity-boosting teas using Thieves Vitality (the white label version for ingesting) and other oils.

I like to start my morning with this simple recipe:

  • a cup of hot water

  • 1-2 drops Thieves Vitality

  • 1-2 drops Lemon Vitality

I incorporate intermittent fasting into my daily routine, so I don't include any sweeteners.

When I need an afternoon pick-me-up, I'll use this recipe:

  • a cup of green or herbal tea

  • 1-2 drops Thieves Vitality

  • 1-2 drops Lemon Vitality

  • 1-2 drops Peppermint Vitality

  • less than a teaspoon of Honey

If I've had a stressful day, or just need to chill, I'll use this recipe:

  • a cup of hot water or herbal tea

  • 1-2 drops Thieves Vitality

  • 1-2 drops Copaiba Vitality
